
Fire Safety is something that is so important to teach young children. Maybe you are thinking that you don’t know where to begin with teaching fire safety to children, but let me help you. I have curated a list of age appropriate books to teach children about fire prevention. National Fire Prevention week is in October each year and I use it as a reminder to teach about fire prevention in our homeschool.

Fire Safety Picture Books for Kids

Do you know the four rules of fire safety? Have a plan. Get out fast. Stay low. And don’t open hot doors. This sing-along picture book will make kids want to practice these four life-saving rules over and over again. I love books that included music and songs to remember the content.

This book was one of the very first books I added to our fire prevention book collection. I love that this book has catchy rhyming words to teach kids about what to do if they are somewhere where there is a fire.

Fire Prevention for Small Children
Fire safety for young children is more than teaching about fire trucks and firemen. When I was searching for fire prevention resources and book ideas, I came across a lot of examples of firemen and fire trucks. While I understand the themed purpose, my goal is to teach my young son about fire prevention and safety.
I encourage you to consider some or all of the books about for teaching your small children about fire safety. Second, there is a significant amount of fire prevention resources at National Fire Prevention Association. This is a great website to go to if you are looking for guidance and resources for discussing fire safety with children.
